This week has just been nuts. The boys are attending VBS in a nearby town (well, nearby for me means a 30 minute drive one way) so every morning we've been heading over there. I hang out with a friend & my youngest since this VBS has the youngest group at age 4 & J is 3. It's been fun but makes for a seemingly long day.
On Tuesday we had to miss. My sister had a doctor appointment way down south so I headed to her house & I picked up her son. I ended up keeping him overnight so that my sister & hubby could enjoy a night alone. He is leaving for a TDY for a couple weeks so they wanted some bonding time. :-) It wasn't too bad having my nephew here. It was definitely a first. I even managed to maneuver through Sam's Club with all four boys. J was in the seat. I had N & my nephew on either side of the cart with strict instructions to NOT LET GO for any reason. :-) B was able to manage well without me. LOL That was a long day though.
On Wednesday AM we all headed over to VBS again. N & my nephew were in the same class. It was too cute when it was all over. They came marching down the steps together holding hands. N was leading my nephew all over & making sure he was well taken care of. Usually they are at each other's throats! LOL
The other interesting thing I'm trying to manage this week is a one-day homeschooling conference on Saturday. I'm not really sure why I'm doing it - actually I am. I love a challenge. That's one reason. The other is there is a very real lack of connections where I live. There are lots of homeschoolers but we all live so far apart & get so caught up in our lives that we don't connect. So I'm attempting the one-day thing. Our yearly convention is in the early spring (March or April typically). It's on Friday and Saturday & while it's not overly pricey, it's still $35 for one person to go & most people have to spend the night due to distance. So I'm attempting a one day thing. We're even having a used curriculum sale.
So I've been working on getting workshops put together, handouts figured out, & tonight I'm making all my copies. I have one of those all-in-one printers. I really like it. My MIL gave it to me for Christmas. My biggest complaint though - the size of the ink cartridges! YIKES! I thought I got sample sizes when I first got it. Nope. They are TINY! I'm sure this will use up all my ink. Well, I replaced it half-way through & my "ink supply" thingie on my PC is already telling me it's empty. Although I find that I can go further than that. My typical printing would mean each cartridge lasts me 1-2 months. Although, my PC tries to tell me I'm out within three weeks.
I have about 12 people who have either registered (i.e. paid up front) or have told me they will be there. I'm hoping for a few more. I'm making extra copies just in case. :-) I'll be sure to let you all know how it goes.
Oh & the other cool news - sort of. My entire family is gone this weekend. I get to stay home ALONE! :-) That rarely if ever happens - ever! However, this weekend my husband & kiddos are going to visit his sister & her hubby at their new camp. I was hoping to go but they had to do it this weekend & you'll see why I have a conflict from what I already mentioned above. I'm going to sleep late & enjoy!
Lisa, that's so cool that you're doing your own hs conference! I can't wait to hear how it goes!
ReplyDeleteLisa, most of my weeks lately have been like this, so I really do empathise.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to let you know that I'll be praying for you on and off today. I've done one of those day conferences too, and I know they can be stressful. It WILL bless all the people who come, though, so you are making an investment in the Kingdom of God.
