My Daybook

For Today...
November 3, 2008

Outside my Window...
it is an overcast fall day. It's not too cold though. I've been outside with just a t-shirt & a fleece top on & warm enough to walk to my in-law's next door.

I am thinking...
that fall is going by far too fast for my liking. Winter is coming quickly.

From the learning rooms...
edible oasis (using Story of the World), spelling, writing, geography, music, art...a full school day today. Lots of fun. Want to see our edible oasis??
This is B's - I'm pretty sure he stuck a blue M&M in his mouth just before I snapped this.
Here's N's.

We had to improvise since I didn't have all the ingredients. We used turbinado sugar (which is all I use for baking these days) as sand and blue M&M's for water. We were suppose to have Tootsie Rolls for palm trees (which we did have) & green candies to cut up for leaves (which we didn't have) so we skipped. I bought animal crackers but I couldn't find any camels so we used elephants. I did not buy icing & did not make any just to use to stick the animal upright so our elephant must be "napping." ;-) The boys loved it.

I am thankful for...
my fantastic older sister who managed to get to a local store (for her - not me) & buy up the last two Emerson MP3 players (with video!) they had for sale. Psych! One is going to my oldest son for Christmas & one is for me as an early birthday gift. (My hubby already has his Christmas gift & is using it so I felt it only fair!!!). If you have an MP3/iPod with video - what do you use the video part for??

From the kitchen...
absolutely nothing right now. For supper tonight I'll be making "potholes" which is what we dubbed Rocks in My Dryer's BBQ cupcakes. All but my oldest son eats these which is a huge thing around here. What would you make to go with these???

I am wearing...
an old pair of very faded jeans, my trusty winter crocs, an old t-shirt, and my hubby's cast off fleece sweatshirt. A nice & causal day.

I am reading...
book three in the Sword of Truth series, Blood of the Fold by Terry Goodkind along with a three other diet/exercise books & a devotional.

I am hoping...
the election does not tear apart our nation.

I am creating...
Christmas ideas in my mind.

I am hearing...
my older son banging around in his room & Miss H playing on the floor with the Duplo blocks.

Around the house...
getting ready for winter to arrive.

One of my favorite things...
the coolness of the air. I wish it would stay like this for much longer than it does.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week...
VOTING! Make sure you cast your vote tomorrow!!! (Otherwise, no complaining about who wins! ::grin::) I also have MOPS, Bible Study, AWANA, & hubby leaves for deer camp on Friday for ten days.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...

Oh thank goodness! I'm not here all alone. Thanks for leaving me a comment. It helps that I'm not always talking to myself. Right? Hello?
