Friday's Fave Five - 3/26

Be sure to head over to Living to Tell the Story if you want to join up!

Wow - is March seriously almost over? What a crazy month here in Maine. The groundhog was so wrong about spring this year. It came about mid-February and is here! I won't say "to stay" because this is, after all, Maine and the crazy weather changes constantly. Last weekend I was on the coast enjoying 70 degree weather. Today it's brisk and windy with a high of 25!! Now on to my "Fave Five!"

1. Enjoying time with friends. A few of the local homeschoolers headed north to the Children's Museum on Tuesday. It was fun to take an afternoon to play. It was a really rainy dreary day outside too.

We're missing three little girls from this photo.

2. Listening to J6 giggle his way through his dental cleaning. Seriously. He thinks the tooth polisher tickles. He laughs. I love it. It's such a change from my oldest who had a phobia for a few years and refused any and all dental cleanings. Thankfully we had a wonderful hygienist who has worked with him and he now allows her to clean his teeth.

3. Homeschooling. I love the fact that we homeschool. Every once in a while we do have comments made if we are out and about but I've never had anyone say anything bad about. I had the boys at Wally World today picking up some new pants and things for them. This older lady asked if they were "playing hooky" today. I just said, "no, we homeschool." End of story. The flexibility in our lives is truly wonderful and a blessing. I also absolutely love helping others get started on this wonderful journey.

4. New friendships. Hubby and I have lived in this area of Maine - the homestead - now for almost six years. We've been pretty involved in our church for the last couple of years and that commitment is growing. I just realized this week how many wonderful ladies there I truly consider friends. A few things have happened over the last few weeks - one thing in particular that could have had devastating consequences if not handled well. Instead we were able to address the issue in love and friendship and I certainly feel like I'm even closer to the others involved. And yes, I'm going to be vague on details here. But due to that and a few other things, I realize I truly do have friends here and I truly do cherish them.

5. The TOS Homeschool Crew A total shout out to all the wonderful ladies (and man) who are part of the 2009-2010 Crew with me. It's been a lot of fun this year getting to know others. The curriculum we've reviewed has been fantastic for the most part. While it's certainly been overwhelming at times, okay, most of the time - the blessings have really outweighed all that. I have had the opportunity to really try out various curriculum and share it all right here. Some I would have chosen. Some I wouldn't have. But seriously - what curriculum junkie loving mom (or dad) wouldn't want to do that?

  1. How wonderful that you're happy and content with your boys' schooling. That is so important. I just read your "About Me" and your life sounds so wonderful!

Your vague story about ladies and church is a testimony to true friendship. Great to have it, isn't it?

  3. Homeschooling is quite rewarding. And watching young children experience new things is fun too. Sounds like a good week.

  4. I homeschooled for many years (all my kids are grown) and even then we seldom had negative comments; in fact, it was usually the opposite. I'm so glad you are having a positive experience!

    Have a happy weekend!

  5. I'm with J6. That thing tickles! :v)

It's wonderful that you are building wonderful friendships at your church and that you all can take steps to work things out. Friendships do take work and sometimes I think we just don't realize that. Sounds like a great group of women over there.

Oh thank goodness! I'm not here all alone. Thanks for leaving me a comment. It helps that I'm not always talking to myself. Right? Hello?
