The Beginning of a Busy Weekend

This morning was the start of a pretty busy weekend - actually - the next four days will prove to be rather busy. I was able to start the day in homeschool heaven. ::grin:: Every year our state association puts on a used curriculum sale. This was my third year attending. Just picture a large room full to the brim with books and fellow homeschoolers. Like I said - homeschool heaven.

The first year I went I was completely overwhelmed. Last year I went prepared with a list of books & plenty of cash and time. That certainly helped. Finding good deals is ALWAYS a given. I've had this day written on my calendar for about the last five months -in ink! To say I was looking forward to attending again would be a complete understatement!

I did find one awesome deal - the teacher's edition to the history program I'm planning to use (Diana Waring's History Alive! Ancient Civilization) for about $15 less than retail. It looks brand new. All in all I had a good time.

From there I headed home as we had friends coming up from the coast for some fun & friendship. They actually arrived before me & once I got home I started the finishing touches for lunch (bbq spareribs, corn on the cob, & corn muffins with fresh strawberry shortcake for dessert). They have two little ones & their son is the same age as our middle son. They hit it off very well.

Between lunch & dessert we walked down to the right of way we own to the lake. It's only about a 1/2 mile away. The best part about it is the depth of the water. It's only about six-eight inches for about 200 yards out. It's perfect for kids to just play & wade. Obviously mine had a fabulous time.

My silly dog spent most of her time chasing rocks I tossed for her. She would dive face first for them.

This was day #1 of our busy weekend......

  3. Yikes.. I didn't know it had been almost a month since I had visited your blog. I think I'm all caught up with you now!

Glad you found some great buys at your book sale.

I needed a break tonight so I enjoyed sitting here catching up with you. I sure wish we could get together and scrapbook some day.

Oh thank goodness! I'm not here all alone. Thanks for leaving me a comment. It helps that I'm not always talking to myself. Right? Hello?
