Book Review: Kite Runner

I'm trying to get out of my usual authors and the books I tend to go back to time & time again. I started checking around some blogs to see what others were reading. I had heard buzz about this book from before it was made in to a movie so I decided to try it. I was even able to get it off PBS so that saved me from having to wait for the library or buy it.

It took me a bit to get in to it. I wasn't sure I wanted to read it. It's fairly depressing and sad to start with but the redemption story that it truly is shines through the rest of the book. I did read it & it did draw me in about a quarter of the way in to it. I'm glad I read it since it's such a popular book & I do plan to read the next one by this author as well (A Thousand Splendid Suns). It's definite a break from my usual Christian romance or "who-dun-it" mystery. I would recommend the book, however, I will warn you that there are some graphic scenes that occur that I found a bit disturbing.

I have been wondering whether this was a true account so I just did a quite search to see what I could find. I found an excellent review HERE and answers that questions & gives a much more thorough account of the book.

  1. Watch the Movie. Our Church does an annual message series titled God at the Movies, in which several movies are chosen and our Teaching Pastor presents Biblical perspectives from the movie. A couple of years ago the Kite Runner was one of the movies. Pretty decent movie.

Oh thank goodness! I'm not here all alone. Thanks for leaving me a comment. It helps that I'm not always talking to myself. Right? Hello?
