My Daybook

FOR TODAY
(
November 2, 2009)...

Outside my window...
darkness has fallen. Early nights. Winter is coming on fast.

I am thinking...
I don't really care for winter. I like brightness and sunshine. I really dislike darkness. I really dislike how early the sun sets now. But in only about six weeks or so the days will slowly begin to get longer again.

I am thankful for...
an amazing husband.

From the learning rooms...
a little of this and a little of that. We did some "together" school today and then the boys worked on their workboxes. They like them. I'm not so sure yet but we'll continue. It keeps us all on task better & that's one thing we all needed. I'm planning to delve in to some Thanksgiving Units and see how that goes.

From the kitchen...
nothing right now. Hubby has a late meeting so easy dinners.

I am wearing...
comfy jeans, socks (because the floor is cold), a long sleeved T-shirt, and my comfy cardigan. My uniform for cold fall/winter nights/days.

I am creating...
file folder games, workbox items, and editing photos from my latest shoots.

I am going...
to continue working on new routines & letting them take hold.

I am reading...
nothing right now & it's driving me bonkers!

I am hoping...
that N8's surgery goes well on Wednesday. He is having his tonsils & adenoids removed. Simple enough but it is surgery. Please consider praying for him on that day. I won't have a time until later tomorrow.

I am hearing...
Star Wars: The Clone Wars on the TV, the dryer tumbling a load, and the hum of the computer.

Around the house...
winter is setting in but we are almost ready for it. I need to put that lovely shrink wrap plastic on all the windows but that will wait for a few more weeks. Decluttering and cleaning is going well - still lots to do though.

One of my favorite things...
crisp fall nights & days - not too cold and not too hot - just right.

A few plans for the rest of the week:
not much this week due to N8's surgery. We'll be staying close to home & making sure he is as comfortable as he can be. We've talked so much about all the fun things we have planned for his recovery period that he is actually excited about having surgery!

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...

Last Wednesday we took a day trip south to Massachusetts. Sadly my 95-year-old Grandfather had passed away. We were headed down for his funeral. As we were pulling out of the driveway 20 minutes later than we had planned, we realized we had a flat tire on the Suburban. Another 20 minutes later hubby & FIL discovered they could not get the spare off in order to replace it. Thankfully FIL & MIL offered us MIL's small SUV for the day & off we went. Hubby got us there with five minutes to spare. The next day he took the tire in to the mechanic to see if he could fix it. The above photo shows what he pulled out of my tire!!!! Okay, on Facebook I said it was 18 inches. It's not. But it is an 8 inch spike that came out of my tire! And the mechanic was actually able to successfully patch it. God's provision was definitely on us this day.

  1. That's a big nail. I'm sorry about your grandfather. I know you will miss him. My pants are too tight. I wonder if the sisterhood can help me. I enjoyed your blog. I love the name. Doylene

Oh thank goodness! I'm not here all alone. Thanks for leaving me a comment. It helps that I'm not always talking to myself. Right? Hello?
