This weekend was the performance of the MK Kids Christmas Special. B was involved with this through the church he goes to AWANA. He sprung it on me early this fall & said he wanted to do it. I don't think he realized the work involved, of course, neither did I! :-)
My hubby & I tagged teamed the performance so we wouldn't have to sit with wiggly boys five years & younger - particularly the "younger" one. Apparently Saturday night's performance was poorly attended (only about dozen people reported) & the kids did some funny bloopers. One girl apologized for messing up the words in her solo, another reminded the director that the cue cards were upside down - in the middle of the play, and one looked at her & said, "I don't remember what to say." LOL
Of course, I only know this since Sunday I was there for their sound check. We headed out from home around 2:30 & went to a nursing home first where they sang 2-3 of their songs. Then we went back to church & they blew off steam during a rousing game of floor hockey. After a snack it was back to work. The kids were very focused, well, as much as they could be.
Sunday night they did a fantastic job. B had one line & he did great at getting it out there when he needed to. It was a tongue twister too! "Actually, it started with Jesus' genealogy which said the Savior would come from the tribe of Judah." Phew!
It was a really cute concept. It was a based on Rosie O'Donnell's talk show except it was Daisy O'Day. The kids were "cutie falootie's." There was singing and a band & guests who were MK Kids from various areas of the globe. There were even video segments that were shown to correspond with each child's monologue. The woman who played Daisy did a really great job.
The church was not full to overflowing, but had a very nice crowd. The kids did fantastic. They sang loud & well. They hit their marks - for the most part. They spread the good news of Jesus while highlighting the lives of Missionary Kids. It was a really great program.
Hi! Just thought I'd pop in and say hello and wish you and yours a BEAUTIFUL and WONDERFUL CHRIST filled CHRISTmas.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you are already enjoyin g some of the Christmas fun.
Sounds like the kids did a great job! I'm sure you are glad it is finished. It is fun for the kids, but months of rehearsals can get tiring.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds sooo cute.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised that they would use something based on anything Rosie O'Donnell did...but it sounds like it was a blast and the kids, as always are so funny without trying!
ReplyDeleteI noticed in the earlier picture of you and your hubby that you got your hair cut - looks GREAT!!!
Ha I was going to say what De'Etta said but is does sound soooooo cute! Sometimes the bloopers are the best part in kids performances!
