Suzanne, this one's for you....
A while ago while reading my blogs, I heard about the great deals that Suzanne scored at a local thrift store. She really got some amazing deals.
Well, today in the midst of my holiday baking extravaganza (which will come later), I had to run to the little corner market (okay - that's a misnomer I think - the closest store to me is at least a 10-15 minute drive but I had to go - I needed more chocolate - to bake with of course.) When I was leaving I noticed a sign saying that the thrift store was having a half price sale through until Saturday. I knew I wouldn't have a chance to get over there tomorrow so I went there right then & there - with kids in tow no less.
I love this store for it's books. The local library gives its discards there. I've found some really nice books. Some old & well worn but readable. Just all around fun. Did I mention that children's books are normally only ten cents each? Yup, that means that the books for the half price sale were a mere nickel. I still shake my head in wonder over that one.
I wandered around a bit & found some nice Christmas tins as well. Since I was putting together some goodies to give away, I figured a couple extra tins might come in handy.
Here is what I came home with.....
And the grand total....74 cents. I even found a wonderful Jean Fritz book (I've started collecting her books) about Christopher Columbus. I gave them a dollar & told them not to worry about the change. I'm pretty happy with my finds.
wow...74cents! That is TERRIFIC. And I love that Santa canister. It looks positively jolly.
