Blog Tour & Giveaway: Blue Like Play Dough

I signed up earlier in the year to begin doing book reviews for WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing which is a division of Random House. The books are pouring in & I'm pretty much in heaven. I'm a prolific reader & I make time every single day to read - some days more than others, but I love, love books so this seems to be a good fit for me.

The first book to arrive is called Blue Like Play Dough. Let me get to what I did not like out of the way first...the cover art. I know, I know, the author has little choice, but the bright orange play dough on the blue cover really bugs me - really bugs me! Especially when the author talks about blue play dough in the book.

Having said all that though, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a quick but great read. It arrived right before our vacation so I took it with me. I had it over half read during the time we were gone. I don't normally like non-fiction, but Tricia Goyer had a wonderful way of presenting her information. I wanted to find out what happened next. She mixes things that happened in her own life and how by the grace of God she came out of it all and thrived. Her story is moving & gives hopes to all mothers.

I give this book two thumbs up.

Here is what the publisher had to say:
In the everyday stretch and squeeze of motherhood, Tricia Goyer often feels smooshed by the demands of life. In Blue Like Play Dough, she shares her unlikely journey from rebellious, pregnant teen to busy wife and mom with big dreams of her own. As her story unfolds, Tricia realizes that God has more in store for her than she has ever imagined possible.

Sure, life is messy and beset by doubts. But God keeps showing up in the most unlikely places–in a bowl of carrot soup, the umpteenth reading of Goodnight Moon, a woe-is me teen drama, or play dough in the hands of a child.

In Tricia’s transparent account, you’ll find understanding, laughter, and strength for your own story. And in the daily push and pull, you’ll learn to recognizes the loving hands of God at work in your life… and know He has something beautiful in mind.

Author Bio:

Tricia Goyer is the author of numerous works of fiction and nonfiction, including Generation NeXt Parenting and the Gold Medallion finalist Life Interrupted. Goyer writes for publications such as Today’s Christian Woman and Focus on the Family, speaks to women’s groups nationwide and has been a presenter at the Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) national convention. She and her husband, John, live with their family in Montana.

I saw your give away after I signed up for Sara's. I think she is drawing first, so if I win hers by chance I will let you know to take me off, so someone else may be blessed.

    Thanks Lisa

  6. Don't sign me because I'm reviewing the book as well, but I wanted to say that I also thought the orange playdough odd when it was talking about blue playdough (LOL).

Oh thank goodness! I'm not here all alone. Thanks for leaving me a comment. It helps that I'm not always talking to myself. Right? Hello?
