FOR TODAY
(
October 26, 2009)...

Outside my window...a perfect fall day. Not too cold. Sunny. Slightly breezy - which makes my dog happy. She spends her days outside chasing the blowing leaves.

I am thinking...
life is good although weird at times. In the last four days I've experienced a death (my 95 year-old Grandpa), a wedding (my baby sister), and a baby shower (a good friend from church). All beginnings of one sort or another.

I am thankful for...supportive family & friends.

From the learning rooms...tweaking more work boxes. Getting in to the rhythm of it all still. Still not 100% sure I like them but the boys do.

From the kitchen...nothing today but I really want to make something pumpkin (bread or muffins maybe). I'm sure there will be more coming later in the week. My oldest brother & his family are flying out to the east coast for a week to help say goodbye to Grandpa. We're having an early Thanksgiving dinner while they are here.

I am wearing...bright fuzzy warm socks, a very old worn pair of jeans, camisole, and a MOPS t-shirt.

I am creating...photo collage of my Grandpa, and editing loads of photos I've taken over the last week. Oh & blog posts for reviews due this week. One today!

I am going...to really miss my Grandfather, but he was 95 and lived a good life, a happy life, a full life. He was totally devoted to all of his grandchildren (11) & great-grandchildren (18). That's quite a legacy he left behind.

I am reading...another blogging for books book - white picket fences. It's good so far.

I am hoping...that the ride down & back to Massachusetts on Wednesday (for Grandpa's funeral) goes well. It's going to make for a long day.

I am hearing...
Word Girl on the TV and Mr. H cooing beside me while he plays in the playpen.

Around the house...cleaning! This house needs a good scrubbing. And laundry. SO much laundry....

One of my favorite things...turkey. Yum! I roasted one last week & now we're eating leftovers. So good.

A few plans for the rest of the week: heading to Massachusetts for the day on Wednesday for my Grandpa's funeral. It will be nice to see all my cousins & aunts & uncles & assorted other relatives and friends. I just wish it were for a better reason. Thursday night is our AWANA Fall Fest. That will be fun & crazy. Friday we're having an early Thanksgiving at my sister's. That will be yummy! Throw in a few doctor's appointments and a photo session Friday afternoon & it's going to be a full & busy week.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...
the cake topper on my sister's wedding cake. I loved it.

  4. I'm sorry for the loss of your Grandpa. He had a long life. Sounds like you'll be celebrating his life and homegoing.
I am interested in How you cooked the turkey. Whenever I cook one, it is always dry.
I'm checking out the "blogging for books".
Hope your week is going well. Enjoy the time with your family. It seems funerals are the only time we see extended family these days.

Oh thank goodness! I'm not here all alone. Thanks for leaving me a comment. It helps that I'm not always talking to myself. Right? Hello?
