Do you have some favorite things from this week? Link up over at Living to Tell the Story.
1. A weekend away. This tops my list of favorite things this week. Today I left for southern parts of New England. I took the scenic route to get here too. It should have taken me about three hours to get here and it took twice that. Although, I did clean Grandma's house first. I have a friend who is hosting a scrapbooking get away in New Hampshire. Two nights. No kids. No hubby. And they have free wifi. Really. Does it get any better than that?
2. Finding a disk of old photo. A few years ago now - probably close to ten I think - I borrowed an album from my Grandfather and scanned all the photos in it. These included his wedding photo. This was after my Grandmother had died so it was after 1999. I had apparently backed them up to a disk (yeah!!) since the computer they were on has since died and I just just found that disk.

My grandparents on their wedding day.
3. A great week of school. I decided to try some new things this week. I did Five in a Row with J6 and Miss H. We had a blast "rowing" The Story About Ping. They each made a notebook. Thursday we did a "sink/float" experiment. They loved it. We'll be "rowing" Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel this coming week.
And I also started a train unit study with N9. He loves any and all things trains and is really liking this unit - as am I. We still have 38 days left to finish school. It's been nice to shake things up a bit and to enjoy school for a bit.
4. Wonderfully warm spring weather. I love this time of year in Maine. Warm days. It's not too hot and not too cold. Although, the black flies are starting to come out which doesn't make outside time all that great - but I still like this time of year.
5. The last night of our AWANA. It's always a very crazy time at AWANA but the last night is beyond crazy. Since it's the last night I had to make sure that attendance and Sunday School awards were given out plus any and all awards earned that night also needed to be handed out. Our closing ceremony is tomorrow and I'll miss it since I'll still be in NH so I had to make sure all those awards were ready too. Here's hoping I didn't miss anyone this year!
We had our last AWANA's night last night - it was a picnic and games - our awards were the week before and then they finish up with a night of fun for the kids. My youngest just had a great time. AWANA's has just been the best thing for my kids. We love it.
ReplyDeleteI've heard lots of great things about AWANA. I don't think we have that here in my area of Canada.
ReplyDeleteThat wedding pic of your grandfather is great! How awesome that you found that disc.
I can just imagine how refreshing that little getaway was for you. Being a homeschooling mom of three busy boys probably doesn't give you a whole lot of time to yourself. :v)
Love the wedding picture! I wish I had my grandmother's...I think, I hope my dad still has it.
ReplyDeleteI wear crocs too - aren't they great daily wear shoes?!
