FOR TODAY...Tuesday, May 11, 2010

Outside my window...the sun is shining brightly. It looks like spring.

I am thinking...the weather has been crazy so far this year. First spring arrived mid-February. But winter keeps trying to come back and get a foot hold. We shivered in what felt like sub-zero temps Sunday afternoon watching N9 play baseball. It was cold! In fact, hubby came home and started the woodstove. I cuddled on the couch in multiple layers (along with N9) and it took awhile to finally feel warm.

I am thankful for...a hubby that works hard to provide for his family. He also makes sure I know how much he appreciates all I do - even if it's not Mother's Day.

From the learning rooms...I'm calling it "casual learning." I haven't put together workboxes for the boys now in a few days but we are doing a longer period of "together school" and then I send them off to do a bit of math and writing on their own. The end of the year is coming and I'm already looking forward to planning out next year's work.

From the kitchen...I need to make some muffins and cookies this week. We are participating in a bake sale on Saturday for our 4-H group. I had some cookies made but the sale was postponed - it was suppose to be last Saturday. Those were consumed by the family so more will be made this week - plus everything else I was suppose to make last week. Frequent power outages made that hard to do.

I am wearing...socks, summer crocs, jeans, long sleeved T-shirt.

I am creating...photo edits on the wedding photos I took as well as photos of my new nephew. I'm also heading out next weekend for three glorious days (well, maybe only two - there is a lot going on around here on Sunday so I may come home early) of scrapbooking. I haven't done that in ages. Now to just figure out WHAT to work on and get photos printed ASAP. That's next on my "to do" list today.

I am going...to get a handle on the clutter around here if it kills me. Seriously. It's nuts. This is the first time we have EVER lived this long in one place - it will be five years (maybe six?) this summer. The longest before that was the three years we spent in our teeny-tiny apartment before moving here (five people in four rooms). I think I need to pretend I'm moving so I can hoe out. Oh wait - we sort of will be once the addition is built!

I am reading...A Voice in the Wind by Francine Rivers. One of my all time favorite books. This is my third or fourth time reading it and it's still very good! I also just picked a Debbie Macomber Series from PBS as well as some other fun books to read. I think I'm set for a bit.

I am hoping...that hubby & I can get a handle on our spending so this addition can happen sooner rather than later. We've been slipping a lot lately on the budget thing. Time to tighten the belt again.

I am hearing...the quiet hum of a fan and chicks peeping. The youngest crew is napping, the middle crew is playing in their room, and the oldest boy is outside walking. The hum of the laptop and an occasional shoot from the opposite end of the trailer is all that adds to the quiet and peace. I love this time of day.

Around the house...getting ready for spring.

One of my favorite things...homemade anything.

A few plans for the rest of the week: a rather quiet week compared to last week's craziness. N9 has a baseball game tonight. It's J6's turn tomorrow night. We have our homeschool co-op tomorrow which means B13 will be taking his ecology class (he's working on his project today - last minute boy. Hmm, wonder where he gets that trait?). The two younger boys (and my nephew who is joining us for the day) will be in the geography class. I think tomorrow's country is Mexico. I'm also off to register the boys for their first 4-H Day Camp. It will be three days of fun next month (and three days of "school" I can count too). Our next to the last AWANA meeting is this week as well. We round out the week with our 4-H fundraiser bake sale on Saturday. Sounds busy, but it really isn't. Honest.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...
Hubby & J6. Hubby took this photo of the two of them while
we were in NH a couple weeks ago. They were fishing.

Oh thank goodness! I'm not here all alone. Thanks for leaving me a comment. It helps that I'm not always talking to myself. Right? Hello?
