My Daybook

FOR TODAY...Tuesday, December 14, 2010
It's been far too long since I've had time to join the Daybook group.

Outside my window...night has fallen. It's almost time to put the kiddos to bed. It's been unusual weather for this time of year. The last two days have brought lots of rain and warmer than normal temps. It's not lasting long though. Tomorrow there is a chance of snow. I enjoyed it while it lasted though.

I am thinking...that it's past time to cut & pare the schedule. The last few weeks have found me on the go far too often and home far too little. A new year is coming and with it many new changes will be made.

I am thankful for...a hubby who has a steady job. He is working tons of extra hours but that should even out soon. Last week he put in 65 hours. This week he already has over 20 and it's only Tuesday. Busy is good though...I just wish he was hourly rather than salary. ;-)

From the learning rooms...we're limping through the end of the year. We'll finish up this week and I'll take the next two weeks to get ready for the start of the year. We'll be switching up everything except math (for now - that may change too). Beginning in January we'll join the Tapestry of Grace crowd. I am pretty sure this is what I need in order to teach all the boys at once.

From the kitchen...lots of goodies being made for the holidays. Tomorrow is our homeschool co-op Christmas party so things are being made for that (nothing fancy - PB&J sandwiches and brownies). We have a Christmas potluck party tomorrow night. Congo bars and a moose pot roast plus some pumpkin bread is what I'll contribute. I will then have a bunch of Christmas goodies to make next week.

I am wearing...warm fuzzy socks with my winter Crocs (love my Crocs!), jeans, layering camisole and T-shirt, with a red (fave!) zip-up hoodie. The only thing cold right now are my hands and that is normal for me.

I am creating...craft kids. I'm putting together ornament kits for the kids to make tomorrow at co-op. I am also planning to put together kits to make this absolutely adorable gingerbread house paper bag. I try to prep things as much as possible to make it easier to put together with lots of kiddos ranging in age from 5-15.

I am going...to enjoy the holiday. It's always felt a bit "off" since my mom passed away. She loved this holiday and I loved sharing it with her.

I am reading...book #6 (A Breath of Snow and Ashes) of the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. She came out with a new book in the series so I re-read them all in order to have everything straight in my head when I read the new book. It's been sitting on my shelf since this summer. These are long books, but I love them for that very reason. Well, and the storyline is good too. And the characters. It's all around good reading.

I am hoping...to have everything ready for Christmas. I always think that and yet I always have it ready.

I am hearing...the dryer going. J6 playing Star Wars Light Saber battles on the Wii.

Around the house...getting the boys bathed and ready for bed. Prepping for tomorrow's co-op. Christmas decorating here and there. Just enjoying.

One of my favorite things...no power. We lost it for over an hour tonight and it was nice and quiet and peaceful. No stress. Nothing to do but enjoy the time. I worked on ornament kits by kerosene lantern and candlelight.

A few plans for the rest of the week:
-Homeschool co-op tomorrow with a potluck lunch
-Christmas potluck party tomorrow night
-AWANA - last one before Christmas break
-Lunch with my weight loss class on Friday
-4-H meeting on Friday
-Christmas play rehearsal Saturday afternoon
-Hopefully time to go see a friend's Christmas drama Saturday night

Here is picture for thought I am sharing..

This little guy hangs on our tree. My parents had one as well and I bought this one the first year of my marriage.

Oh thank goodness! I'm not here all alone. Thanks for leaving me a comment. It helps that I'm not always talking to myself. Right? Hello?
