Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. How many students were in your high school graduating class? Did you know most, if not all of them? I went to school in a small town - comparatively speaking. I attended a "district" school made up of kids from five surrounding towns. Over half my classmates had been my classmates since first grade. The rest I knew from when we started the district middle school in fifth grade. While some came and went, I knew the majority of my classmates for at least eight years. My graduating class had 69 students in it.

2. What was the last thing you photographed? Our 4-H club. We are working our educational exhibit. We're doing a "backyard ballistics" theme. On Monday we made catapults from mouse traps (the boys made one and the girls made one) and a rat trap. Our ammo was marshmallows. The kids did a really great job and had a lot of fun testing these out!

3. Pickles-love 'em or loathe 'em? If its love what's something you eat that needs a pickle? I'm not a big pickle fan. My mom used to make a "7-day" pickle that was sweet. I would eat those and loved them. It was my grandmother's recipe and I have attempted it once, but as the name suggests, it takes seven days to make them. Time consuming but typically worth it.

4. What's a stereotype you seem to perpetuate without meaning to? Boys will be boys. While I agree boys tend to act a certain way, then can be taught! In fact, that's something I work on every day!

5. Ever been horse back riding? If so is it something you enjoy? If not, do you have any interest? Did you watch the Kentucky Derby? Will you be watching the last leg of the Triple Crown this weekend? Yes, I have been horseback riding. Not a ton, but enough that I feel comfortable on a horse. My niece used to ride so my parents had horses at their place (she lived with them). I've done a few trail rides as well. Someday I'd love to have a horse, but I doubt it will ever happen. And no, I did not watch the Kentucky Derby and won't watch the Triple Crown this weekend. The biggest reason? I don't have broadcast TV.

6. What's your favorite 'wedding' movie? Wow! So many to pick from! The first one that popped in my head when I read this question was "My Best Friend's Wedding" with Julia Roberts.  Loved that one. "Runaway Bride" was another favorite and one I watched over and over again!

7. What is one 'tourist attraction' in the USA that you'd like to see in person? Again - so many to  pick from! I think the first on my list though would be Mt. Rushmore. I don't think you can appreciate the size of it and the talent it took to make it unless you see it in person. It's on my "to do" list on my "someday" list.

8. Insert your own random thought here. We had a fox come in to our dooryard last night and snatch a chicken right out from under our noses so to speak. In fact, my oldest son was actually outside walking when this happened. We had been letting our chickens free range, but for now they are locked in the barn. They won't stay in the run area if they are let out and I don't want to risk loosing more right now. The two older boys are keeping an eye out and their BB guns ready. I have my hubby's shotgun at the ready.  Until we find and dispose of Mr. Fox, the chickens will be in solitary confinement.

  1. I love Maine. We spent some time there on our honeymoon ten years ago and I have always wanted to go back. Hope that fox leaves your chickens alone!

Oh thank goodness! I'm not here all alone. Thanks for leaving me a comment. It helps that I'm not always talking to myself. Right? Hello?
