Scary Pregnancy Photos

There are a few ladies pregnant over at SHS. There was talk about how scary we all start looking near the end of pregnancies. Then there was a challenge to post a scary pregnancy photo. Here's mine...................

This is me about 8 months pregnant with son #3. Numerous relatives called this my "ski slope belly." (You know who you are!) I gained roughly 40+ pounds I think. The pants I had on did not fit me at the start of the pregnancy & then were the only ones I COULD fit in near the end.

I have diabetes so large babies are a concern. As a result I had ultrasounds weekly from week 32 until the week before. They measured & calculated & thought son #3 would weigh a high 8 pounds (8.11 I think was the final estimate). My OB had warned me that if he measured too large she was going to push for a C-section. I had warned her that unless there was immediate danger I was NOT going to have a C-section! So she induced me one week early. After 22 hours of labor (ugh - why do mine keep getting LONGER!!!!) our third son came in to the world.

The nurse announced his weight (drum roll please!!!) 10 lbs. 3 ozs. Both my OB & I went, "WHAT???" That was a God thing I'm sure. I only had a small tear where I had had an episiotomy with son #1 eight years earlier.

However, this belly was something else........................oh & I was VERY glad to finally see my feet again!

  1. Dear Lisa, I am quite sure this baby was standing on your spine, straight out horizontally, stretching as far as he could! Great photo, and my dear, so far, you'd win my vote. I'm wondering how you could drive, because I can't imagine your arms reaching past your tummy!

  2. Thank you so much for the chuckle, Kristine! Yes, I'm sure that was his position. At times it certainly FELT like he was standing sideways. Unfortunately, I held this look for about 2+ months! As for driving, I have to admit that I did have a hard time!!! :-) You see, we have all standard transmission vehicles. I'm short. I have to be close in order to push the clutch all the way down. I could manage our car since it was small, but I couldn't drive our truck for the last month. This caused my hubby no end of chuckles. :-)

  4. I have one of those huge baby belly shots too. I also have one that was taken a week before Scotty was born. I was sitting at a restaurant and my belly was almost touching the table...and my backside was 3 feet away!!!! Scary. SO glad I won't EVER be doing that again.

Oh thank goodness! I'm not here all alone. Thanks for leaving me a comment. It helps that I'm not always talking to myself. Right? Hello?
