Saturday Fun

It was a bright sunny day (for a change) here in Maine & my hubby had big plans. ::grin:: My in-laws both own snowmobiles. They also have an extra one that my hubby has fixed up & has been using this winter. It's certainly been a winter for this activity. There has not been a lack of snow since mid-November.

My hubby put together an afternoon of snowmobiling for all of us. My in-laws were going & each of them were going to take one of the boys with them. B was riding with Daddy. A good family friend also joined us & his wife even let me borrow her sled. This was amazingly generous considering I haven't driven one in over 15 years!!!!

I was concerned about being cold since I don't have any snow pants, but I managed quite well. It wasn't overly cold so that certainly helped. I wore a pair of thermal underwear under my jeans & over that I had a pair of rain pants I use while biking. My legs felt a bit cold when I got home but I was never horribly uncomfortable.

I did well keeping up & our boys had a fantastic time. We drove in to the next town & had a late lunch. It takes us about 15 minutes to drive to this corner store, but we took the more scenic route & it took us about an hour to get there by sled.

On the way to the store, J was wide awake. He did really great considering he was the only one without a face shield on his helmet. He rode with my MIL & she covered his face if the wind came up. He was sitting below the windshield on the sled so that helped as well.

On the way home though, he started nodding off. He actually fell asleep off and on the whole way home. We stopped here & my MIL turned him to face her. Then my FIL tied them together to help make sure J stayed on. My poor MIL drove home the whole way with one hand as she was holding J's head up most of the way. I'm sure I couldn't have done that!

We had a great time. I was a bit sore through my shoulders & my arms but other than that I didn't have any other physical issues. It was a good time & I hope we get to do it again. Even though the calendar says "spring" it was snowing yet again here today so perhaps, schedule permitting, it will be this season instead of next.

  3. This looks like a fun day. I was always afraid in AK that I'd FREEZE or be terribly uncomfortable...but I think if given the chance again I'll try it. LOL

  5. That looks like a LOT of fun. I've really only been snow mobiling once and that was over 20 years ago when went through Yellowstone Park on snowmobiles.

Oh thank goodness! I'm not here all alone. Thanks for leaving me a comment. It helps that I'm not always talking to myself. Right? Hello?
