My Daybook

FOR TODAY (December 8, 2008)...

Outside my window...

it's bright & sunny but very cold - the coldest day we've had this winter season.

I am thinking...

of all the things I still need to make for Christmas - including my cards. I'm attempting these this year & while they truly aren't any more time consuming that my hand stamped ones, I need to start devoting much more time to getting them done.

I am thankful for...

the ability to replace a vehicle quickly since my truck died today. Thankful we can get one to fit our family.

From the learning rooms...

Christmas school continues and we're enjoying it (plus math & writing).

From the kitchen...

my oldest is making brownies. I should be making bread - maybe that will be next. Lots of goodies for Christmas. I'm going to make these, and these, and these, and these, and probably some more chocolaty treats.

I am wearing...

winter crocs with socks (what else!), very old, faded, comfy jeans, turtleneck, & sweater.

I am creating...

Christmas cards & Christmas presents. I can't share too many details as some of the gifts are for folks who read the blog. I'll share after the holidays - promise.

I am going...

no where this week - at least during the day. Having only one vehicle is tough but at least it's doable. My MIL is going to lend me her vehicle at least once this week so the boys can get to AWANA. At least I'm saving money by staying home.

I am reading...

Greg Iles Dead Sleep. I gave up on the sci-fi series & now I need to find something else to fill its place. I have this book, it's good, so it works for now.

I am hoping...

we can find a good reliable vehicle for a good price this week.

I am hearing...

happy playing by all the kiddos & my oldest working in the kitchen.

Around the house...

I really need to finish winter-proofing. Even with the wood stove going full tilt it was still chilly in the living room most of the day. The temp has come up a couple degrees but it's still a bit cold.

One of my favorite things...

red cheeks on kids after coming inside from playing.

A few plans for the rest of the week:

not much - I need to work on getting Christmas presents done. Some need to go out this week. Enjoying the season. Hopefully find a new truck & get started on Christmas decorations.
