My Daybook

FOR TODAY (June 1, 2009)...

Outside my window...the sun is shining & it's so nice! We've had a lot of rain here the last week and it feels good to have the shine outside again. I'm sure my little garden is just soaking up the warmth.

I am thinking...of my oldest nephew who has a birthday today. Happy Birthday, Devin!!!! Is it really 23???

I am thankful for...my life. Really. I live a blessed life & I've been taking the time to notice the small things. In fact, we were discussing at MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) this past week about how God works miracles in our lives on a daily basis. We just have to stop & notice them.

From the learning rooms...busy running errands today so the boys had an unexpected (but happy all the same) day off. I'm thinking about what we can add/delete for the new year & for our "summer" term. We will take an extended break near the end of July & in to August, but I will have two extra children again next year so I want to be sure to get a jump on our school year. Of course, I say that every year & it rarely happens.

From the kitchen...I cooked a lot last week, extra goodies for various things (hubby's cookout at work, MOPS - my turn to bring a snack) but so far this week I think it will just be the usual. Our schedule is a bit slower this week so we may actually eat dinner at home more than once!

I am wearing...comfy jeans, crocs (of course!), hubby's white t-shirt (shhhh....don't tell him!).

I am creating...not much at the moment, but I have a lot going on in my mind. Trying to get things sorted out & figured out first.

I am going...to be heading outside soon to redo the string fence on my garden. My silly dog managed to get in there yesterday & then couldn't figure out how to get out! I need to replace the sagging twine with stronger lines.

I am reading...The Clan of the Cave Bear. I've read it before but I have had one of the newer books for a couple of years. I want to read it but I thought to refresh my memory on the series. This was one of my mom's favorite series of books.

I am hoping...to get the boys school papers filed away. N willing sorted them in to piles (by name) for me on Friday. Now I have to sort by subject & file in to binders. I just need to do it!

I am hearing...a toddler softly snoring on the couch as she naps (Miss L), the dryer running & my two little boys playing (rather loudly I might add) in the room at the end of the hallway.

Around the house...hubby is almost done with the chicken tractor. I will post all about it when it's complete. The chicks are growing rapidly! It's fun to watch. I still need to finish planting my garden but it's been too wet & rainy the last week. I'm also sorting books to sell at our state's used curriculum sale this coming Saturday.

One of my favorite things...Used curriculum sales of course!

A few plans for the rest of the week: only one baseball game for N this week (yeah!) but three softball games for hubby. No more AWANA so our Thursday nights are free. Our last MOPS for this year is this Wednesday am & then I'll have a free week. The used curriculum sale on Saturday & then a wedding on Sunday. Not quite as busy as usual.

Here is picture thought I am sharing...

This was taken last weekend. We'd had the chicks only seven days & already their wing feathers were coming in. I'll be sure to post a more recent photo. They are getting new feathers daily. We now have them in a much larger box with chicken wire on the top as they are having fun trying out their wings.

Oh thank goodness! I'm not here all alone. Thanks for leaving me a comment. It helps that I'm not always talking to myself. Right? Hello?
