Friday’s Fave Five

Susanne is celebrating her 100th post of “Friday’s Fave Five.” That is a lot to be thankful for! I’ve been participating myself now for a bit but only for about the last six months. I have some time before I hit 100 of these. Although, very soon I should hit my 1000th post here at The Berry Patch. It’s only taken me five years to get that far. Five fun years!

Without further adieu, here is my top five things from this past week:

One - Good friends. We are in a 4-H group with some good friends and it was great to spend the last two days with them as we prepared to enter our projects in the fair for the first time. Thanks, Vicki and Brenna! We'll be heading in to the fair next week and we'll get to see how well we all did!

Two - Good in-laws. Well, really great in-laws. My MIL treated us to train tickets to Boston. We took the Downeaster train and spent the day walking Boston with my BIL & SIL. My boys had a great time. A huge thank you to both my MIL for treating us to the day and my BIL for taking the day off from work to act as our tour guide.

Three - Good learning. While in Boston we went to the Public Garden and road on the swan boats and checked out the Make Way for Ducklings statue there. J6 & I had read this as part of a Five in a Row study earlier this spring. It was great to bring it alive for him. (I blogged about the whole day with lots more photos at my "homeschool log blog." Check that out if you want to see all the details.)

Four – Good support. I joined a weight loss Bible study a few weeks ago. The support there has been really good and it’s helping me figure out some things that I needed to figure out a long time ago. I really enjoy meeting with these ladies every week – none of whom I even knew prior to joining the study.

Five – Good life. Sometimes I really feel like this life isn’t what I signed up for. I long for things to be different. I lament the way thing are and wonder why I don’t have bigger or better. Then I remember that this is the very life God gave me. He knows far better than I what I need. While it can still be tough at times, it’s getting easier turning it all over to Him. I like it much better when He’s in charge and not me.

  2. I love Boston but I have not been there for years. How wonderful to get to do that.

I'll be interested to hear how your weight loss plan works out.

  3. Ah, I love the Make Way for Ducklings statue. Sweet pictures.

And I love your #5. We all feel like that sometimes, and your reaction is a wise one. Take care and have a great week ahead.

Oh thank goodness! I'm not here all alone. Thanks for leaving me a comment. It helps that I'm not always talking to myself. Right? Hello?
