Hot 100 - Update #2

My goals:

  • Kicking my Diet Mt. Dew habit for good
While is this being lessened, I have yet to give it up for good.
  • Exercising for at least 30 minutes 4-5 days a week.
I managed twice this week.
  • Limiting carbs to 45-50 per meal and 15 per snack
Not even close.
  • Using my tracking forms for food, blood sugars, and exercise at least 5-6 days a week.
Didn't happen at all.
  • Going to bed no later than 11pm every night.
I actually managed 3 out of the 7 nights - way better than ever before.

There is definitely a part of me that wants to throw in the towel. It feels like I just can't do it. Then I watch The Biggest Loser. Yeah, talk about motivating! Seriously - it does motivate me. I just seem to forget that each and every day.

One thing I have realized is I need to focus on 1-2 goals at a time and then build on them. After all, "they" do say it takes about a month to establish a habit. I need to change some of my really bad habits in to better ones.

So - I am revising my goals!

    1. Because I am already working on getting off the Diet Dew, I am going to consider this a "goal in progress" and continue working off this. By the end of 30 days (by my report on 11/12), I want to report that I am drinking no DMD!
    2. Since we have all recently heard how much sleep plays a role in weight loss, I will continue working on my goal of going to bed every single night by 11pm
    3. The last goal will be my exercise one. I am revising it slightly....20-30 minutes of exercise 3-4 days a week. This would include a walk outside, a Leslie Sansone walking video (at least 2 miles), or the Wii Biggest Loser workout. I tried the yoga one this week. Oh.my.gosh. Tough! So yeah, that stays.
Here's to the end of the year and new habits!

    1. Oh Lisa Anne, I to know so well the addiction to Diet Mountain Dew. I am not sure how much you drink, but I was at a gallon a day my friend and that is just sad. I now drink two a week, and usually cans not bottles. So I get you, I do. I seriously just quit it for two weeks because I heard it kills your glycemic index, It seems to be true to, because I have switched to 80 ounces of water a day, one glass of unsweet tea and two cup of coffee and I dropped 50 pounds in the last 3 months. I do exercise religiously and keep my calories below 1800 a day too, but I am pretty sure the water instead of soda has been key in my dropping weight.

    2. I think it is good to reevaluate and revise goals. This past summer I was in a challenge and ended up changing my goals weekly!

    3. I love that you revised your goals. I did that, too! It's like altering clothes to fit me. I thought the goals that I originally set were exactly what I wanted and then they felt a little tight on me. Yay for South Beach Steve for laying out the rules that we can shift our goals to suit us.

    6. DMD is a toughy-all that lovely caffeine!!!

I did hear that if you sleep more you lose more weight, so that is food for thought...

Oh thank goodness! I'm not here all alone. Thanks for leaving me a comment. It helps that I'm not always talking to myself. Right? Hello?
