Wedding

My friends over at SHS have been posting wedding photos. I'm not sure if I should jump on this bandwagon as they were going for "bad wedding dresses from the 80's." Sorry, ladies, I was married in 1993. LOL I'm still going to post. My MIL made my dress. It was beautiful & just like the photo I picked out. She hadn't made clothes in years but had when all her kids were little. She kept having nightmares that all the sews were going to pop & it was going to fall off me. It didn't. In fact, it's still hanging in my closet. Oh & my hubby & I only gave her (and everyone else!) a two month notice of the wedding. Not only was my dress made, but all the bridesmaid & maid of honor dresses were also handmade! My aunt made three out of the five dresses. My headpiece & veil was my best friend's. She bought if for her wedding six months earlier. It was pricey so she was more than willing to let friends & family borrow it so as to feel she got her money's worth. I think 2-3 more people borrowed it after me. We had an amateur photographer do our photos - ours was only her second or third wedding. I'm sitting on a sheet with my dress out around me & all the bridesmaids flowers were on my dress surrounding me. I look back at this photo & think of how young we were! My hubby was only 20 & I was 21. We even finished our last year of college as a married couple.

O.k. curiosity is getting the best of me. What is SHS? I hear it here, at Deb's blog, and on CWLS.

  5. Lisa - your dress is elegant - beautiful. I didn't realize we were going for ugly dress of the 80's....I thought my dress was pretty....LOL I think the lace and big train thing had to come from Princess Di's wedding and the influence it had on weddings in that decade. LOL

  7. Beautiful dress, Lisa! I love it. I was married in 1992 and had an off the shoulder dress as well. What are brides wearing these days? I can't imagine making such a dress. Your mil must be very talented.

  8. It's beautiful, Lisa!

The 90's dresses were much more elegant than the 80's. Yet we thought we were so gorgeous at the time!

Oh thank goodness! I'm not here all alone. Thanks for leaving me a comment. It helps that I'm not always talking to myself. Right? Hello?
