Homeschool Memoirs #13 - Mom Help

THEME:
This week I’d like to invite you to share what YOUR “Mom” help is. Some drink coffee, soda, or chia-tea. Others check email or read their favourite blogs. Some talk a walk…. what do you do when you need to clear your head and take a breather?

Scripture Share:

Please share a Scripture that gives you a “mom” help when you’re spirit is feeling overwhelmed.
==========================
Well, as most folks might now (especially anyone IRL) I'm a Diet Mt. Dew addict. I thought I'd sugar-coat a little & say "drinker" but I'm not. I love it & I seriously cannot get through the day without it. I know, it's a sad little fact about me, but unfortunately so very true.

I also love taking time to view others lives via blogs. I won't even share how many I now have in my Google Reader (Deb, shhhh!!! ::wink::) but let's just say it's a significant number. E-mail also plays a part in my down time.
I'm in a large number of groups as well & I like making friendships that way. I've actually met a number of ladies I met on a Yahoo group IRL which is always cool.

Another way I love to unwind is reading. I love to dive in to a good book. I can easily escape for a while to another place & time. I'm an avid reader but I'm also a fast reader (which really annoys my older sister ::grin::). It appears my oldest son is picking that up as well. He managed to go through one of the Harry Potter books in about three days. My sister was incredulous when he returned it saying it would have taken her a month. Of course, he has the time to read (and I encourage it) but I'm getting off topic here.

Probably one of my most favorite ways to unwind & recharge is to head to my sister's once a month for my scrapbooking/chatting time with her & my friend Tammy. We've been doing this now for about four years. Prior to that I used to organize a monthly crop (scrapping time) at my church. I loved it. With little children underfoot it was the only time and way I could work on my albums. We had 12 hour marathon sessions & it was some of the most fun I've ever had. Seriously. When hubby & I relocated here I started going to my sister's. In fact, I'm heading there this Saturday & I can't wait! I get to spend a good portion of my day with my two best friends working on my albums. I love it.

Aside from the methods I've shared above, I will also try to snatch an hour or so whenever I can get the time. For instance yesterday I had a doctor appointment in the city which is an hour plus drive south of where I live. My MIL had the day off & offered to watch the boys for me & allowed me time to go shopping after I was done. I was able to spend the whole day alone working on Christmas shopping. I rarely get time completely alone & it was nice to have it.

And the scripture I use to get me through the tough days...

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and
not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Jeremiah 29:11

Oh thank goodness! I'm not here all alone. Thanks for leaving me a comment. It helps that I'm not always talking to myself. Right? Hello?
