Spring Reading Thing 2009 Wrap-Up

Well, it's official - summer is here. At least I think summer is here. It's hard to tell in Maine these days. We've had lots and lots and lots of rain. In fact, that's pretty much all we're having this week. I'm really not sure why I'm complaining about it because I despise hot & humid weather, but I digress.

It's time to wrap up the Spring Reading Thing 2009.

As a professed book worm, I love doing these reading challenges. It's a great way for me to have my "TBR" list (that's "to be read" list) all ready to go. And my list for this challenge was a bit, um, well, challenging. Not only did I have a gazillion twelve Iris Johansen books, but I added The Earth's Children series by Jean M. Auel. That's a lot of pages to be reading.

I actually managed to get through all the Iris Johansen books. I really enjoy her writing but I think I immersed myself just a tad too much this go round. They can be pretty violent, dark books (who-dun-it mysteries) but they move fast but they are easy reads. (disclaimer: This is not a Christian author & the language does reflect that.)

It's been a long time since I've read The Clan of the Cave Bear books. I've managed to get through the first two & plan to continue through the series. I've had The Shelters of Stone (the newest one) for about two years now just sitting on my bookshelf. I think it's past time to get that one read.

I added quite a few books to my original list & I think my favorite of those was the The Duggars: 20 & Counting by Jim Bob & Michelle Duggar. It was a fast & easy read but I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was like being behind the scenes in a sense of their TV show (which I also watch). I like their family philosophy & their faith. I learn about being a better family every time I watch them.

Thanks, Katrina for hosting the challenge. I love it & look forward to the next one.

Now I'm off to enjoy my summer - I hope.

  2. Good job! I definitely understand where you're coming from on the Johansen books. I love a good mystery / suspense book, but yes, sometimes they can be pretty dark and you just have to take a break from them.

Thanks again for being part of Spring Reading Thing '09!

Oh thank goodness! I'm not here all alone. Thanks for leaving me a comment. It helps that I'm not always talking to myself. Right? Hello?
