TOS Crew Members were recently given access to the membership only side of AVKO. AVKO are the makers of Sequential Spelling which many homeschoolers have either heard of or use. I've never used the program myself but I have certainly heard about it.
In addition to the curriculum, there is another side to AVKO - a membership only site. Crew Members were given access to AVKO's Basic Membership (normally $25/year). Here is what is included in the basic membership:
- 25% discounts on all AVKO printed materials
- Hundreds of dollars worth of FREE e-books including:
- The Patterns of English Spelling (All 10 Volumes) with Word Families in Sentence Context (normally $39.95)
- To Teach a Dyslexic (normally $14.95)
- Starting at Square One
- The Teaching of Reading & Spelling: a Continuum from Kindergarten through College. (normally $59.95)
- The Reading Teacher's List of Over 5,500 Basic Spelling Words (normally $29.95)
- Access to the Member Only section
- AVKO Newsletter with freebies, discounts, resources, and promotions
- Access to Don McCabe's most popular workshop recordings in MP3 format (normally $2.50 each for an audio CD)
- Supplemental Curriculum Materials including word games, worksheets, activities, and more!
- Access to Pretests and Placement Tests
- Access to the Answer Keys for the Unscramblers and Family Reunion exercises of the Engaging Language Kits
There is also an entire section of puns, humurous quotations, inspirational stories, family humor, poetry, religious humor and much more. These are all word documents and can be used for reading practice.
There is also a page dedicated to homeschoolers on their website that is full of links to various products they offer that would work well for homeschoolers in particular.

Oh thank goodness! I'm not here all alone. Thanks for leaving me a comment. It helps that I'm not always talking to myself. Right? Hello?
