My Daybook

FOR TODAY

Outside my window...
darkness has fallen long ago. It's getting late. I need to head to bed soon.

I am thinking...
I need to start working on getting to bed earlier. I'm definitely a night owl and I find it difficult to be in bed before midnight. However, that makes mornings even rougher than normal.

I am thankful for...
my wonderful husband. After 17 years of marriage, he still gets me. He was away over the weekend but still planned a surprise for me this Valentine's Day morning. He had some chocolates and cards and our oldest son delivered for him. Totally unexpected as he had given me a dozen red roses (my favorite!) before he even left. This is why I love him so much. He always surprises me.

From the learning rooms...
today my sister came for the day and we did our music and art study. Tomorrow the boys have their monthly art class. They will be glazing pottery they made last month as well as some other pieces. They are all looking forward to it. The rest of the week we'll finally delve in to week two of Tapestry of Grace. It's only take me six weeks to get to that point.

From the kitchen...
not much. I do need to start using more of our pantry and freezer for cooking. I keep thinking of cooking something sweet, but that would defeat my new eating plans.

I am wearing...
the usual. ;-) I really don't change much. I have on fuzzy socks, winter Crocs, jeans, layering camisole, long-sleeve t-shirt, and a fleece sweatshirt. Comfy!

I am creating...
some fun preschool activity bags for a friend. I just need to get some ink for my printer. I refused to pay the price at the local box store today - crazy expensive. Hoping to find it cheaper but quickly as I want to finish this project this week.

I am going...
to try to enjoy getting back in to the swing of things. My two youngest boys were exposed to chicken pox almost a month ago. We spent the last few weeks home in order not to spread the germs we were sure they had. However, they never broke out. Having done some more research I'm almost certain that the children who shared the germs were further along than I thought and thus no longer contagious. Oh well....if they still haven't had chicken pox in a few more years, they will get vaccinated. I have enjoyed being home the last few weeks though!

I am reading...
I just started a Beverly Lewis series (Abram's Daughters). So far I like it. I read one of her first series years ago. I also have a couple of review books to finish up reading. They are non-fiction though and I have a really hard time getting through that genre - not my favorite.

I am hoping...
spring comes very soon! This is when I really start getting tired of winter. I know spring is coming and it will be here soon, but not soon enough!

I am hearing...
the fire crackling and a movie playing to keep my company. Nothing else as the boys are sleeping.

Around the house...
I'm trying to figure out the best way to redo my living room. I just received my new digital piano and I'd like to find a better spot for it in my tiny living room. I think it's going to involve moving some bookcases - some which have not been moved since they were first put in place seven years ago! I need to talk to hubby though as some of my ideas require some shelves put up by him.

One of my favorite things...
quiet evenings to recharge my batteries. I love staying up late. I just don't love mornings. It's definitely a catch 22!

A few plans for the rest of the week:
tomorrow we have art class. Piano lessons were cancelled as there is an illness going through our teacher's house. This will be week #2 we've missed. Wednesday N9 has a dentist appointment. Thursday is AWANA. Friday I have my weight loss class and the boys have 4-H. And Saturday is the big day. It's our AWANA Grand Prix (think Pine Wood Derby). The boys will be finishing their cars this week.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing..

The keyboard in the chair is what we used to practice on. It only has 49-keys. My parents bought it for me when I was a senior in high school. The digital piano is a new purchase. It just arrived on Saturday and we are loving having it in the house to practice on now. An early tax return "gift" to the boys & I.

  1. Love the piano, Lisa-Anne! My daughter would really like to learn to play, but we need to get her something to play on first. (She has a $20 keyboard from Toys R Us.) Great share!

  2. I really enjoyed reading your "Daybook" entry. I think that is something I should be doing. I think it would be good for me to write at least most of it every day to make sure I am staying on track with my goals.
I am from the TOS Crew and am now following you. I'm looking forward to reading more posts. Thank you!

Oh thank goodness! I'm not here all alone. Thanks for leaving me a comment. It helps that I'm not always talking to myself. Right? Hello?
