{TOS Crew Review} Time4Learning

Photobucket

Time4Learning is an fun, on-line learning site for children in grades preK through 8th grade. Recently TOS Homeschool Crew members were given the chance to try it out. Over the last couple of years my boys have had a chance to check it out a few times and they continue to enjoy it. This time around I had all three of my boys try it out. They are in grades two, five, and nine.

One of the neat things about Time4Learning is you can set it up to work however you need it to. For example, if you want to just reinforce learning, you can have it do that. If you are a homeschooler and need your child to get more of the bulk of the learning from the site, it can do that too. In fact, my sister homeschools her son but also works part-time. She uses Time4Learning on the days she needs to get caught up on sleep and she knows her son is getting the school in that he needs.

Time4Learning uses fun interactive lessons to teach the child. All of my boys enjoyed using Time4Learning and one of their favorite places to go was The Playground. Users earn time by doing their lessons and can play on the "playground" once the designated lesson time is completed. The parent is able to set that time for each child. The parent also has the ability to set up assignments for each child.

A free Lesson Previewing and Planning area on their site makes planning out how to use Time4Learning super easy. It lists out how many lessons in each subject for each grade. Using some simple math, it helps you decide how many your child needs to complete each day to finish each level. You are not confined to one grade across the board either. In the parent account, you have the ability to chose which grade level your child will be using and then you will have access to the level above and below that. This features is great since a lot of children don't fit a "one-grade" mold.

Each grade level typically covers Language Arts and Math while first grade through sixth grade have science and social studies options as well. Curious as to what a level might look like? You can check out a free demo on their site.

Parents are able to log in to their admin account and see when their children are logging in and the progress they have made. They can even print out certificates of completion and view how well their child is doing. Here is a sample Progress Report:

You can also check out Time4Learning's YouTube page to see a few videos about log in, progress reports, and more.

Time4Learning costs $19.95 a month for the first child and $14.95 a month for each additional child. You can cancel any time and are not locked in to any type of contract. There is even a two week money-back guarantee.

  1. My son's favorite was the playground, too. He would try to get a sister to help him (do for him) so he only did the playground--that "plan" was only successful once.

  2. Ditto on the SAHM thing! Add to it that my hubby and I share a vehicle so I've no way to get "out" most days. Enjoyed reading your post reviewing Time4Learning. My kids use this as their main curriculum. I love it because it frees me up to also be a work at home mom!

Oh thank goodness! I'm not here all alone. Thanks for leaving me a comment. It helps that I'm not always talking to myself. Right? Hello?
