My Daybook

FOR TODAY (October 19, 2009)...

Outside my window...darkness has fallen. The house is quiet. The day is winding down to rest.

I am thinking...I am getting there. Slowly. But I'm getting there. I think. Maybe I'm just delusional.

I am thankful for...so many things. It's hard to put it in to words right now. I have so many supportive friends & family.

From the learning rooms...work boxes! The newest craze to hit the homeschooling world. It's working though - so far. On only day #2 or so the amount of whining & complaining has fallen drastically! Yeah! Tomorrow I add in J5. Today I added N8 & he loved them. B13 is thrilled. He now has a set start & finish to his day.

From the kitchen...nothing today. Hubby had a late night meeting. He's still driving home as I type. I'd like to make some pumpkin muffins & something with apple (maybe more muffins?). I need to get something made for hubby's breakfast (he eats on his commute).

I am wearing...old black jeans, long-sleeved t-shirt with a sweatshirt, and socks knitted for me by my MIL.

I am creating...the boys work boxes for tomorrow. I think I'm all done laminating and cutting out number pieces and such for them. (A very detailed review of this whole thing will be coming later this week or early next week.)

I am going...to continue sticking to our new schedule. I can feel & see it working.

I am reading...books off my Fall Into Reading 2009 list - Leaving Carolina. It's good!

I am hoping...to work on purging the house soon. I've decided I do not need all the children's books I have here. Some are going to have to go!

I am hearing...the hum of the computer. Soft snoring from the kids bedrooms. A perfect evening.

Around the house...little messes everywhere but I'm getting there.

One of my favorite things...crisp fall days. Perfect for walking with no bugs. Love it.

A few plans for the rest of the week:N8 has soccer (last week!). Continuing with school & work boxes. Heading to a local (relative term) corn maze mid-week. Usual things like AWANA & Bible study. Oh yeah, my baby sister is getting married on Saturday & I'll be doing the photos. Baby shower at church on Sunday (any tips on the best place to buy cloth diapers?). A full but fun week.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...

This adorable little boy is only about a week and a half old here. One of the girls at church just brought him in to the world & I had the privilege of taking photos of him on Sunday. Lucky me.

  1. re:purging books- I did this over the past year and although hard I am so glad I gained space and lost stress. I'm really glad I did a big book purge now even though at the time it felt really hard, I love books! I sold some, gave some to friends and donated some. It worked out well.

Oh thank goodness! I'm not here all alone. Thanks for leaving me a comment. It helps that I'm not always talking to myself. Right? Hello?
